Friends of Wynberg Park – AGM

The AGM is 3pm on 7 June at Springfield Convent School, Convent Rd, Wynberg

Wynberg-Park-1

The Friends of Wynberg Park (FOWP) is a voluntary association that was formed in 2013 to work with the City Parks Department, the ward councillor and park users to oversee the preservation and improvement of this beautiful park.

FOWP’s first AGM will be held on Saturday 7th June at Springfield School, Convent Rd, Wynberg (next to the Park) starting at 15h00.

Besides the Chairman’s report and the election of office bearers, Cllr Liz Brunette will give a short talk and the park manager Ms Ntsiki Sigege will speak about the Master Plan for Wynberg Park and what can be expected over the next year.

The “Friends” have developed a good relationship with the park management, and their initiatives include fundraising projects such as concerts in the park and memorial benches, as well as re-establishing the fountain as a focal point. Come to the meeting to hear more about these and other projects.

Development of a Master Plan for Wynberg Park was funded by a ward allocation in 2012, and comment from two public meetings and input from other interested parties informed the final plan in 2013. The Master Plan presents an exciting future for one of Cape Town’s most accessible natural assets, and FOWP aim to compliment this plan with community-led initiatives.
